Apple has announced a ₹100 crore investment in India to boost renewable energy capacity and support clean energy adoption across its supply chain, according to a recent company blog post.
The investment, made in partnership with CleanMax, will help develop over 150 megawatts of new renewable energy capacity across the country. Apple said the initial phase of the project is expected to generate enough clean electricity to power around 150,000 Indian households each year.
The company also noted that the renewable energy capacity may be expanded further in the coming years as part of its wider sustainability plans in India.
Apple and CleanMax have previously worked together on rooftop solar initiatives designed to power Apple’s offices and retail stores in India entirely through renewable energy. According to Apple, these efforts enabled its India operations to run on 100% renewable energy.
